THE CONFERENCE ON COMMODITY AND ENERGY MARKETS

The Russian Federation runs the G20 Presidency starting December 2012. The work of the G20 in 2013 will be concluded by the Summit of the National Leaders which will take place early September in Saint-Petersburg.
The core objective of the Russian Presidency is to concentrate the efforts of G20 - forum of the world's largest economies - on developing a set of measures aimed at boosting sustainable, inclusive and balanced growth and jobs creation around the world.
All the energy related issues in the agenda of the Russian Presidency are run within the Energy Sustainability Working Group. The ESWG concentrates its efforts on four major spheres of work:
1. Making energy and commodity markets more transparent and more predictable
2. Promoting energy efficiency, sustainable development and inclusive green growth; phasing out the inefficient fossil fuel subsidies
3. Promoting investment into the energy infrastructure
4. Ensuring global protection of the marine environment
The ESWG will gather on 9-10 of July to discuss the outcomes of the work that was undertaken in the energy sphere under the Russian Presidency. The discussions will have a specific focus on promoting investment into energy, sustainable development, innovations in the energy sphere and the ways of boosting the sector. The working face-to-face meeting will be preceded by the Conference on Commodity and Energy Markets on 7-8 July, which will summarize the activity of the ESWG and give an insight into the G20 work in the energy field.
The Conference will bring together high level officials from the G20+ governments, representatives of the International Organizations, top level industry and business representatives, academia and think tanks.
